Transport has been one of the most important challenges of the 20th century and the National Automobile Museum is home to one of the largest collections of automobiles in Europe. Created with donations from private collectors, it is considered to be one of the most important museum of its kind in Europe. The museum’s collection helps you to travel back through time as you stroll through more than a century of automobiles on display, illustrating the changes that vehicles have undergone since their creation. From the humble 1885 Pinette steam machine (the oldest exhibit in the museum) up to the classic vehicles of the 1970s. Approximately eighty vehicles are on display and these allow us to see how design has changed over the years to suit our needs. The vehicles also show us how power and speed of the models have improved. In addition to the automobiles there are over 100 bicycles on display, again illustrating the advances in technology that has enabled the high-tech bike of today. |
