Laroca

Carol & Rob began their search in northern Spain but turned down the opportunity to own an almond ranch after falling for the year round beauty of the French Pyrenees. They stumbled across the idyllic village of Ore, and in particular a house and barn built in 1841 that they now call Laroca, and their home.

Between them they have turned the rustic open barn with its magnificent stone and chestnut wood construction into two gites. Carol & Rob have kept many of the wood features and incorporated them into their design; indeed the “tree” in the lower gite is a fantastic feature, along with the whalebone arches and many other original features that all add to the rustic charm. Indeed, although the use of the barn has changed, Carol & Rob have kept the names for what they used to be. The lower gite is “The Pigpen” and sleeps up to 4, the upper gite is “The Hayloft” and sleeps up to 6.

Both gites are extremely comfortable with commanding views of the Col des Ares. Having recently been converted all the furnishings are new and blend well to create the perfect haven in which to sit back and relax after a tiring day.

Ideally placed close to Luchon and Spain they are 5 minutes from the river Garonne, 10 minutes from Spain, 20 minutes from the ski resort of Le Mourtis and only 25 minutes from the spa town of Luchon, with its ski resort, Superbagneres. Superbly situated for your cycling or walking holidays they are surrounded by mountains and only 10 mins to the A64 autoroute for site seeing trips.

Carol, Rob & their daughter, Lauren are on hand to recommend a good walking route, a challenging cycle ride, help arrange that white water rafting adventure or point out the best sites to see in the area.
