Pic du Midi - Calling All Daredevils
A New Year - A New Challenge? As featured in our August newsletter the Pic du Midi is one of the highest mountains in the Pyrenees, and perched at the top is the Pic du Midi observatory.
The observatory is no longer operational, instead there is a museum, restaurant, gift shops and viewing platforms. You access the summit via cable car from the nearby ski resort of La Mongie in the Tourmalet ski domain.
Once at the summit (2,877 metres) you can marvel at the spectacular views, have something to eat, and enjoy the museum. Or, how about the ultimate in off-piste skiing, take a guided run back to the resort. For local accommodation click here.
Anyone well tell you that going off-piste can be dangerous, but with the right experienced guide the encounter can be exhilarating.Rest assured, this is one run you will not forget!
