View from the Pyrenees

April 2007

Welcome to the first issue of View from the Pyrenees where we will bring you news and comment on where to go and what to do in the Pyrenees. In this edition we look at the latest snow conditions around the region. After a slow start to the season the white stuff just keeps on coming to provide lovely powder conditions and fresh pistes. If you're not sure where to go then take a look at the Piste maps that we are constantly adding to the site and finally we have a review on the charming ski resort and spa town of Luchon from our Winter competition winners. Happy reading and here's to your Pyrenees holiday.

NEARLY EASTER AND THE SNOW CONTINUES TO FALL

preparing the chairlift at Peyragudes

Fresh snow has fallen across the Pyrenees and more heavy snow is forecast for the next few days, providing an abundance of fresh powder for you to enjoy.

Last week in the western Pyrenees the resorts of Cauterets and Peyragudes had over a metre of snow fall, while the resorts of Barèges and La Mongie enjoy almost 1½ metres of snow depth on the upper slopes.

The eastern Pyrenees has also enjoyed good snowfall, freshening up the pistes at Font-Romeu and Les Angles, meanwhile the Andorran resorts report excellent snow conditions.

NOT SURE WHERE'S BEST FOR YOU?

BRITISH SKI & SNOWBOARDING SHOW EPYRENEES.COM SUCCESS

Judith and David Sell with Nigel Clarke of ePyrenees.com outside the Apsis hotel

All of us at ePyrenees.com would like to thank those of you who attended our stand at the NEC Ski & Snowboard Show. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed meeting with you. Many entered our competitions and we are pleased to announce the following lucky winners.

The winning entrants for the Luchon competition have just returned. Here is what they had to say, “A huge thank you from us to ePyrenees.com for our weekend away in Luchon. Flights from a host of local airports to Toulouse, followed by a transfer of just over an hour through beautiful countryside, makes for easy access to a lovely part of the country.

Apsis Hotel Pyrenees

We think Luchon is a really attractive, traditional, small town. The buildings are just stunning and the Apsis hotel provided a very high standard of accommodation in the very centre, just a short walk to both the ski lift and the fabulous Vitaline spa.”
